Usually, coon hunting is done during the night because raccoons are nocturnal beings. This is especially true for the farther away you get, and this is by far the most important factor that separates the good long range hunters from the average ones. While some elk hunts almost miraculously end just a few hours away from the lodge, others will last for weeks.
